Te Reo Week 4

Whakatauki:
Ka heke nga roimata, Ka heke te hupe, Ka rere to waiora

Which simply means your own expression of love and respect for someone.

This weeks session involved students practicing their kupu hou from last week, tangohia, whakahokia etc.  Students then practiced  simple sentences using past tense - I went...


I haere au ki te toa
I went to the shop

I haere ma raro au ki te moana
I went by foot to the sea

We also spent time having a korero about "What is being Māori?"

Student answers:  He tangata, Identity from being Māori, He taonga tuku iho, tupuna, indigenous, the way things are done.  Tikanga/Kawa customs.Whakawhanaungatanga - you matter!  When we know where we are from - kia tau! 

Tikanga/Kawa is up to you.  How you do things in your whare are up to you.  The way you behave in your own space, how you handle yourself is 'what

Māori - To make clean
